Towns - Kirkley

Mentioned in the Doomsday Book as a village in its own right, Kirkley is now a district of Lowestoft. Kirkley is south of the harbour and comprises award-winning beaches, the esplanade with its mixture of seafront attractions, parks and gardens, and running parallel to the coast, the specialist retail area of London Road South.

Esplanade

The seafront is one of the most attractive esplanades of any British resort, and overlooks a wide expanse of clean, sandy and safe beach.

Seafront at kirkley

On the seafront can be found the East Point Pavilion, an indoor complex providing the tourist information centre, a restaurant and Mayhem - the refurbished childrens themed play area. Just outside and overlooking the sea is new Adventure Golf garden.

The Fishermans Wharf on South Pier is an authentically decorated pub offering excellent views over the beach. The Edge Bar on the Claremont Pier is a stylish bar with a very modern theme. Alongside the South Pier is the Heritage Quay that is used to moor historic vessels throughout the year.

The Hatfield Hotel
This area boasts two piers: the South Pier (which is actually to the north!) and the Claremont. Both provide traditional seaside amusements, eating places and distinctive bars.

London Road South has a range of bars and cafes and is a good place to explore on a days visit to the beach. This area includes a range of specialist shops, many with a craft or leisure theme and all worth a visit.

Kirkley has an abundance of good quality accommodation, restaurants and eating-places to suit everyones pocket.
