Dog Ban
Dogs are not permitted on the Award beaches between 1 May and 30 September.
During this time, dogs must be kept on leads whilst on the promenade.
Beach Safety
Lifeguards - The Lifeguard Stations at Lowestoft and Southwold
act as First Aid Points. To contact the lifeguards at Lowestoft or Southwold,
telephone 01502 586167 (Beach Officer) or 569352. The Lifeguards are on
duty from 10am to 6pm, late May to early September. To contact the lifeguards
at Southwold, please contact the Lowestoft lifeguards.
Emergency Procedure - to raise the alarm, dial 999 and ask for the appropriate service.
Jet skis - To launch and retrieve craft and jet skis from Lowestoft Beach, Personal Powered Watercraft (PPW) users must be register with Waveney District Council. Registration is an annual fee of £50. To register, you will need Public Liability Insurance Form (to the value of £2million) and the Datatag registration document plus the registration fee. For jet skiing in Southwold, there is a hard slipway to launch from, proof of valid insurance must be shown to the Harbour Master prior to launching. Jet skiing at Southwold is only permitted half a mile outside the Harbour entrance or upstream of the Bailey Bridge in the clearly marked area. There is a daily charge of £4.90 or an annual permit (April to April) is available currently costing £34.50. For any more information, please contact the Southwold Harbour Master on 01502 724712.
Lost Children - Lifeguard Stations at Lowestoft and Southwold resort beaches operate as a meeting point for lost children. Telephone 01502 586167 (Lowestoft, South of Claremont Pier) or 01502 569352 (Lowestoft, North of Claremont Pier). Free SeaSmart wristbands are available from the East Point Pavilion, which allows you to tag your children to ensure that if lost, they are quickly and safely returned to you.
